I became a doula because I believe everyone deserves nonjudgmental support and a sense of connection during major life transitions. I’ve been a doula for a decade, supporting families through birth, postpartum, and medically complex situations. As a queer doula, my work is deeply rooted in affirming care and creating spaces where all identities and family structures feel safe.

My journey to becoming a doula began with my roots in Somalia, where I first witnessed the struggles, many women face when accessing quality maternal care. Those early experiences taught me how deeply childbirth impacts not only the mother, but also the child, family, and community.
